Terms of Service

Kallam is an Arabic language-learning browser extension that progressively replaces English words on web pages with their Arabic equivalents. The Service is offered in a free tier and a paid Pro tier. Features available in each tier are described on our pricing page.

You may use the free tier without an account. To access Pro features, you must create an account using Google OAuth via Supabase. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly ($8.99/month) or annually ($69/year) via Stripe. Subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. You may cancel at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal accessible from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued for unused time. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to subscribers.

You agree not to:

• Attempt to bypass, reverse-engineer, or tamper with subscription gating or Pro feature enforcement
• Use the Service to violate any applicable law or third-party rights
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the extension or its vocabulary data
• Interfere with the security or integrity of the Service or its underlying infrastructure

The Kallam extension, website, vocabulary data, and all associated content are owned by us or our licensors. The Arabic vocabulary data is derived from the FreeDict project and other open sources, used under their respective licenses. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial language learning.

Kallam uses Claude AI (Anthropic) to generate word explanations. AI-generated content is provided for educational purposes and may occasionally contain inaccuracies. We are not responsible for errors in AI-generated explanations. Free accounts receive 5 AI explanations per month; Pro accounts receive unlimited AI explanations.

Your privacy matters to us. All word-replacement processing happens locally on your device. We do not collect or transmit the content of pages you visit. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details on what data we collect and how we use it.

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that vocabulary translations are always accurate. Language learning outcomes depend on many factors outside our control.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will do so.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the email address associated with your account or via a notice on the website. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
